The suggestive language from Aladdin. The inappropriate words written in the sky in The Lion King. These are just some examples of the sexual innuendos found in Disney animated films. Are these subliminal sexual messages the work of bored animators? Or is it just the result of our over-imaginative minds? Join us as we go through some of the most controversial Disney sexual innuendos.

Sexual Innuendos in Disney Movies

Here are some of the best Disney adult jokes of all time.

1. The Little Mermaid’s penis-y castle spire

One of the most talked-about Disney innuendos is brought to us by The Little Mermaid’s 1989 cover art. You’ll see the main characters portrayed against Atlantica with a rather obscenely-shaped tower.

Yes. We see that phallic-shaped castle spire, Disney. Naughty! Naughty!

The long-standing rumor says that it was intentionally placed there by a ticked-off animator after getting sacked. As it turns out, it really was just an accident. The artist in question wasn’t fired. He wasn’t even a Disney employee, to begin with. It was just the result of the artist rushing to complete the artwork over an all-night design session.

2. The Little Mermaid’s bishop had a boner

Did the bishop in The Little Mermaid get a little too excited while officiating a wedding? Well, it certainly appears that way. In the scene, there’s an obvious bulge in the bishop’s groin region.

Tom Sito, a former Disney animator, explains that the “bulge” is one of the bishop’s knees, as you can see in this image.

That confirms it. We just have dirty minds

3. Jessica Rabbit’s wardrobe malfunction

Who Framed Roger Rabbit subliminal innuendos are some of the juiciest in Disney history. It certainly isn’t your typical Disney animated movie.

For starters, this cartoon/live-action mashup is more aimed at adults than children. Just take a look at how Jessica Rabbit was portrayed in the movie. The animators drew Mrs. Rabbit to have an unrealistic body, all curves and slinky physicality. She’s so desirable that even the animators themselves couldn’t resist fantasizing about her.

Just take a look at what they did to her during a car crash scene. As she goes flying through the air, we clearly see that she isn’t wearing anything under her slinky red dress.

No one is admitting if this was intentional or not. But an ex-Disney animator revealed that cartoonists would often put inside jokes in films back in the day. That’s because, during the pre-VHS and VCR days, films were running at 14 of a second. So nobody’s seeing anything. But with today’s technology, we can play back and inspect everything frame by frame.

4. The Lion King’s infamous ‘sex’ scene

The Lion King is one of the most beloved animated films of Disney. But it’s also notoriously cheeky. In one scene, Simba gazes up into the night sky. After laying down on the ground, he kicks up a cloud of dust which spelled out “sex” in the sky. Or does it? Sito tells us that it says SFX (special effects) and not SEX.

We guess we’ll have to take his word for it that this Lion King innuendo is just a product of our overactive imagination.

5. Aladdin tells the teenagers to get naked

It looks like street urchin Aladdin isn’t as innocent as we believe him to be.

While trying to woo Princess Jasmine on her balcony (of all places!), he was confronted by Rajah, Jasmine’s pet tiger. As Jasmine opens the curtains, you can hear Aladdin muttering in the background, “Good teenagers take off their clothes.”

But the film’s director says it was, “Good kitty, take off and go!” Listen to the video and decide for yourself.

6. Barbie admires Ken’s as…cot

Barbie and Ken in Toy Story are both known for their fine plastic physiques. When they meet at the Sunnyside Daycare for the first time, they aren’t shy about voicing out their admiration of each other.

Ken compliments Barbie’s sense of style. As a comeback, Barbie tells him. “I like your as…cot.” The way she deliberately paused in the middle of the word tells us that she’s admiring more than just Ken’s neckerchief.

7. What’s up with Mrs. Potato Head’s lips?

Another Toy Story innuendo was delivered by none other than Mr. Potato Head.

Upon finding out that Sunnyside Daycare isn’t the paradise it promised to be, the toys demand their freedom from big bad bear Lotso. But instead of listening to their sob story, he decided to silence them. Literally!

He snatches Mrs. Potato Head’s plastic mouth as she was arguing for the toy’s release. This prompts her husband, Mr. Potato Head, to cry out loud, “No one takes my wife’s mouth except me!” The double entendre isn’t lost to the adult viewers. We saw what you did there, Mr. Potato Head!

8. The ‘foot’ size joke in Frozen

Out of all the sexual messages in Frozen, the one that stood out the most was the foot joke. When Kristoff found out that Anna tried to marry a man she barely knew, he was shocked. So he quizzes her on how much she knew about Prince Hanz, her intended. Kristoff wants to know Han’s eye color, favorite food, and foot size. Anna responds bashfully that “foot size doesn’t matter.”

9. Lightning McQueen gets flashed

It seems that as Disney gets older, the more adventurous its innuendos are becoming. Just take a look at some of the sexual messages in the Cars films. It has some of the dirtiest Disney in-jokes.

Did you see that part when a gloating Lightning McQueen got flashed after a race? Twin car sisters, Mia and Tia, push to the front of the crowd and promptly flash their headlights at McQueen. They are immediately escorted out. It seems that even in the world of Cars, flashing is not tolerated.

10. Were there stripper cars in the Cars universe?

It doesn’t end with flasher groupies. Cars is just chock-full of innuendos.

For starters, the film’s motel is called Cozy Cone. Cozy Cone? Really? But it gets more interesting. There was also a truckstop called Top Down with “All Convertible Waitresses” as the sign promises. This suggests that there’s a Cars version of a strip joint in the movie.
